A post to the Wingecarribee and Moss Vale units' Facebook pages said they "received reports" about people in the region getting calls from unknown numbers.
"THE NSW SES DOES NOT CALL, DOOR KNOCK OR SOLICIT DONATIONS FROM THE PUBLIC," the post said.
People receiving calls of this nature are urged to report them to Crime Stoppers online, or by calling 1800 333 000.
Anyone who requires assistance from the SES can call 132 500, or call Triple Zero in an emergency.
The SES advises the following to ensure properties are prepared for storms and extreme weather:
- Maintain yard and balconies: identify items that can lift in strong winds and ensure they are secure and keep the yard tidy
- Clean downpipes, gutters and drains
- Trim trees and branches
- Keep the roof in a good condition
- Prepare an emergency exit if needed
- Prepare an emergency plan
