A man has been been charged with commercial drug supply following a vehicle stop in the Southern Highlands.

About 11.30am, Wednesday, June 7, officers attached to the Hume Police District's Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were patrolling the Hume Highway, Sutton Forest, when they observed a Mazda 6 sedan bearing registration that had allegedly expired.
Police directed the vehicle to pull over and spoke with the driver, a 36-year-old man.

A search of the boot of the sedan allegedly revealed a suitcase containing almost 5.5kg of MDMA, with an estimated street value of more than $700,000.
The driver was arrested and taken to Southern Highlands Police Station where he was charged with one count of supply prohibited drug - large commercial quantity - serious indictable offence, and one count of possess prohibited drug.
The Moorebank man was refused bail to appear in Picton Local Court on Thursday, June 8.
