After a cold, but sunny start to the day, temperatures dived across the afternoon as an ominous cloud system came overhead from the west.
In Bowral temperatures dipped to freezing at 8.30pm, while due to wind-chill the 'feels like' temperature bottomed out at -7.3 degrees around the same time.
It was essentially the same scenario for Moss Vale which had a near-identical dive in temperatures across the afternoon.
Further south Canberra had it's coldest May morning in 32 years, while sleet and snow also contributed to two separate crashes near Lake George north of the capital.
Parts of the Southern Tablelands including Marulan, Tarago and Goulburn also had a smattering of snowfall around 4pm.
