Charlotte Holmes has been swimming since she was six months old, and is excited to compete in a national competition later this year.

The 11-year-old from Oxley College, has qualified to take part in the national School Sport Australia Swimming Championships at the end of August, in Sydney.

She came third in the state, in the 50 metre breaststroke final held by the NSW Primary Schools Sports Association (NSWPSSA), which guaranteed her a spot in the upcoming competition.
The young swimmer had a time of 37.93 seconds, and said she "really happy" when she qualified for the national championship.
Holmes also came second in the same race in the heats, with a time of 38.43 seconds.

To get to the NSWPSSA, she swam in the NSW Combined Independent Schools Swimming Championship.
The keen swimmer placed second in the 50 metre breaststroke race for girls' aged between 12 and 13, in the prelims and finals.
Holmes trains five times a week, and loved swimming because of "meeting friends, learning new things and getting advice from my coach".
She has been swimming in a squad since she was seven, and has competed in different local events and state finals.
The rising star has her eyes set on the Olympics in the future.
