The symphonies and choruses of one French composer will be brought to life this month through a singing group in the Highlands.

The Berrima Singers will present the works of Gabriel Fauré with In Paradisum on April 29 at 3pm, at St Jude's Anglican Church in Bowral.
The program includes 'Cantique de Jean Racine' and 'Requiem', as well as other works which explore everlasting love.
They will be led by Columbian-born Australian pianist, vocalist, composer and conductor Dr Carlos Alvarado.
When he was announced as the group's musical director in February, he said he looked forward to challenging members more, collaborating with local musicians and introducing new symphonies to the group.

He obtained his Doctorate of Opera and Symphonic Conducting at Moscow's Tchaikovsky Conservatorium of Music, where he studied under conductor Gennady Rozhdestvensky.
He is also the musical director of the Manly-Warringah Choir and Illawarra Choral Society, as well as an orchestra and choir conductor for the Ryde Hunters Hill Symphony Orchestra.
Dr Alvarado co-founded the Wollongong Symphony Orchestra, has participated in international choral festivals, and has conducted professionally in Europe, Asia and South America.
