The decision was confirmed at the ordinary meeting, that took place on November 16.
SHBG CEO and chairman of the board Charlotte Webb OAM, attended, and outlined the request to close an off road reserve, situated at the corner of Old South Road and Kangaloon Road.
At present, there is a water-filling station located in the requested section, which is adjoined to the gardens as its carpark, and its walking track.
The meeting paper outlined the potential scenarios to have the station removed, relocated or have the area delineated, so both sections would be separated.
It also stated that the Wingecarribee Shire Council (WSC) entered a five-year road lease for that area in March, 2017, which the CEO said made the issue urgent.
Ms Webb OAM said there was a lack of consultation on the matter, and there was a great amount of foot traffic through the area, which included people who did not use the garden.
"As a a community facility, we see these sorts of activities in the botanic gardens growing, where other people...can hold something in the botanic gardens for their particular...section of the community, and host it," she said.
She also said the proposal to include bollards and markings to indicate the separate sections would reduce the amount of parking in the gardens.
The paper stated the relocation would cost $500,000, and administrator Viv May said was not feasible, but the council could meet the SHBG "halfway".
He said an easement to assess the "continual operation of the water filling station, together with a right of access for vehicles using the water filling station", would be put in place.
The need to improve the space is also going to be included in the land lease.
