The Master Pennants travelled to Port Kembla Golf Club to play the semi-final of the Illawarra Region against the home team. All matches were tight through the outward nine with Port Kembla getting the upper hand overt the closing holes to qualify for the finals.
On Monday, playing the course off the Red tees, Peter Canestrari off a handicap of 21 had 40 points from John Keane on a countback with 40 points.
Tuesday, the Women played a stroke event with Diana Pine winning A-Grade with a fine nett 74 from Jenny Sultana with a nett 77.
The B-Grade was won by Mary Werfel with a nett 75, from Brenda Campbell with a nett 76. Wednesday saw a strong field participate in A-Grade and Peter Tancred proved too strong, claiming victory with 38 stableford points, Iain Battersby on 36 points finished second.
Daniel Watts showed some good form was the standout in B-Grade on 38 points from Howard McMillan on 35 points. Ray Careless won the C-Grade event with 39 points and Mike Dovey won the D-Grade battle on 42 points.
The good scoring continued into Saturday with Dominic O'Shannessy shooting one over par for 39 points from Phil Cunich on 36 points. Graham Warner also had a convincing win in B-Grade with 39 points from Doug Dobb on 36 points.
Mike Dovey had another fine round in C-Grade winning with 37 points from John Wormleaton on 36 on a countback from Bill Williams.
