Guests came from as far away as Nowra and Jervis Bay to hear the author and social researcher explain how communication worked and how to overcome difficulties.
Organiser Rhonda Vanzella said the event was a huge success and many people walked away with a better understanding of why people sometimes didn't get along.
"Hugh gave a stunning address, which was relevant whether you were running an organisation, business or were a parent or grandparent," she said.
"There were even 11 men in the audience and that's more than I've ever seen at a CWA function. The age of the guests ranged quite a bit as well, from 19 to 85."
The event raised funds for the Wollondilly CWA and would be used for its continual support of women and children.
